Living Thelema - Patterns Cycles and Obstacles on the Magical Path (by speechinthesilence)
In my conversations with various practitioners in recent weeks the subject of initiation has come up on a regular basis. From magickal groups that are actively organizing graded material, covens of witches, lodges of Freemasons to solitary eclectic students of occultism this subject is one that touches on all, or almost all of the different systems of spiritual attainment. Yet in spite of its near universality across disciplines it remains one of the most controversial and often misunderstood concepts of occult practices.
If one doesent mind syncretism (and both the GD system and Thelema are by nature syncretic) this is very interesting.
The nature of my own Alchemical work is hidden in it (being mainly spiritual or inner, but having physical components accompaning it).
Btw:successful syncretism ,in my view, is itself Alchemical in nature.

Ellwood begins this interview by describing his background as an author and the books he’s written. In Magical Identity, he’s exploring magick from an ontological perspective, a shift from doing magick to being magick, or embodying magick. As such, the identity of the magician is crucial. Taylor then asks: What is identity and how is it defined? How does it fit into magick?

David talks about his intention to create a forum to address that which is essentially beyond conceptual thought – using words, numbers, and symbols. He explains that the basic approach his work takes is, “that the universe and all phenomena are always beyond static conception – no thing, or non-thing, has any permanent or independent existence, including the mind and … God.”
After seeing “Contact” for the (at least) fourth time, i have once again to admit what deapht it has.
It possesses Mystery in the true sense of the word.
The movie is after Carl Sagans story and stars Jodie Foster as Dr Arroway.
